A global citizen is someone who self-identifies first and foremost not as a member of a state, a tribe or a nation, but as a member of the human race as a whole, and someone who is prepared to act on that belief, to tackle our world's greatest challenges; as a consequence the world´s future depends on engaged global citizens. If we had more global citizens active in our world, then every single one of the major challenges we face -- from poverty, climate change, gender inequality -- would become solvable. They are global issues, and they can only be solved by global citizens demanding global solutions from their leaders. Not ephemeral solutions that are susceptible to the fluctuating moods of a politician or the hint of an economic downturn, but sustainable solutions that can be held in the long run. Therefore, millions of citizens in dozens of countries need to be recruit to put pressure on their leaders to behave globally altruistic.
This goal is not difficult to achieve if we only propose it to ourselves. We just need to create consciousness about global common good among people we know, be organized and motivated to start acting, volunteering our time in our local community and getting active, encouraging others to become active members of this social movement that will solve many of the serious events that happen in the world and that harm all of us, directly or indirectly. One person alone can do a lot, but many together can do much more.
